Get to know me!!
Hello everyone!
Welcome to G30M37R14, the blog where I will be sharing with all of you interesting facts related to arithmetic that catch my attention. If I had to sum up this blog in one word, I would choose ORIGINALITY.
"Why?" you may be wondering. Well, for a simple reason—I will try to cover as many areas as possible to make it as diverse as I can, ensuring that there is information to spark everyone’s curiosity.
In case you don’t know me, let me introduce myself. My name is Eva, and every week I will be here with you for each new post, learning together. I am currently in my third year of a Bilingual Primary Education and English Studies Double Degree. Now that I’m in my third year, I can confidently say that, even though the schedule is not the most convenient—since it means attending university both in the morning and afternoon—I love what I’m studying. I am very happy with my decision, even if that means staying at university from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., walking around campus or sitting in a chair. If I had to choose between the two degrees, I would go for Primary Education, mainly because I find the classes more useful and engaging. Plus, I have always believed I have a natural talent for teaching. I’ve always enjoyed explaining things to my classmates, family members, or anyone else, with the aim of helping them understand different concepts. I think teaching is an incredibly rewarding profession, and seeing the look on someone's face when they finally grasp something they previously struggled with is more than enough reward for the time invested.
Now, moving on to the subject at hand... Didactics of Geometry.
What do I expect from this course? Geometry is often a subject that needs to have imagination, the ability to be aware of what the figures are, memory and other essential skills. They either love it or hate it—there is rarely an in-between. The reason they often hate it is that they find it difficult to understand. This is precisely why I believe it is so important for us as teachers to learn how to teach it properly so that we can provide our students with different resources and strategies, ensuring that they don’t start panicking every time they see Mathematics on their schedule.
Therefore, from this course, I hope to learn different teaching methods, useful resources, and ways to structure the subject once I become a teacher.
That being said, I’ll see you in the next post.
